I tried solving this algebraically by assuming radius r. Side of a square will be 2r/(sqrt)2, and continuing the logic to find the side of an octagon, but it seems like I’m going wrong somewhere.
Can anyone help me out with solving this one?

Do you need to? You can directly compute the area of the octagon using the fact that it is composed of 8 congruent isosceles triangles.
I tried that logic, but it didn’t work out correctly.
