GRE Score Cancelled!

I recently took the GRE, but unfortunately, my scores were canceled by ETS. I wasn’t given the option to appeal this decision, though I’m still trying to resolve the matter with them.

  • The prompt asked for examples and counterexamples, which I drew from my own knowledge of economics and history, and articulated in a compelling way

  • I think I am a strong writer and hence am more likely to use language and a writing style similar to professional writers. Since the work of strong writers is more prevalent in online publications than that of weak writers, I feel a “similarity check” against published work would unfairly penalize some of us?

  • My own prep for this AWA section was so limited apart from the one gregmat video where he lays out the 5 paragraph section.

They are not allowing me to appeal and I feel so frustrated by this as I did not plagarise or cheat. I just wrote a very strong essay?! Any tips on how to appeal this- they said the decision is final?

To add to this complication- I applied to an M7 MBA program using my unofficial scores, as they were the only ones I had at the time. However, the school’s deadline has now passed, and I’m unsure how to proceed. I’m worried that if I inform the admissions team about the cancellation, it could raise a red flag and hurt my chances of being considered.

To make matters more complicated, this isn’t the first issue I’ve faced with the GRE process. For example, when I initially tried to take the test, my passport was delayed at the consulate for reissue longer than expected, which caused additional challenges. Unfortunately, the school hasn’t been very understanding about these kinds of situations in the past.

I’m feeling stuck and would really appreciate any advice on how to approach this. Should I let the school know what happened and see if they’ll work with me? Or should I focus on retaking the GRE and apply again in Round 1 for next year’s intake?
