GRE Verbal Problem of the Day, April 26, 2021

@KremlinOfficial
How did you know the first blank was -ve ?

Is this a double possibility question?

Increased hypertension (high blood pressure) is something bad

Hei,
So, i have marked the references i used to fill the first blank one in blue and the other red for the blank 2.

I agree that blank one should have something of negative connotation and building upon this all the options work (all the options ) as far as just the blank 1 is concerned.

Coming to the blank 2 however, the word ‘eventhough’ indicate contrast (-1) and the idea to the left of it which is the idea of ‘increase hypertension’ (-1) is of negative connotation, so the idea to the right of it (which contains the blank) should be on the lines of rejecting the claims of increased hypertension which means that ‘results that reject(blank 2) the relationship’. Since there is ‘inconclusive’ on the right side, the blank should be opposite of reject which could be something like ‘accept/support’ the relationship. Thus the only option which gives the sense of ‘support/agree’ is buttress.

So, should not C be the correct answer. Please, do tell if and where i got it wrong.

@imkartikkhanna I think the word that tells us there is support between blank 1 and increase hypertension is particularly and not “and”. As for the option I also went with the same option and logic as you did

So is your answer also C??

Yeah i also went with C

OK…And did u go with the same logic as mine for the second blank or was it anything different??

Same logic as u.
