GRE Vocabulary building

Hi,
Should anyone deft at GRE verbal recommend reading NYT times editorials and one Carl sagan book per month, and making flash cards out of difficult words from them, learning them seperately from the 900 Gregmat vocab list.

If one has 4 months of study time, would it be copious or a recommended thing to do.
Thanks in advance.

Personally, I suggest starting with a word-list because while reading words from NYT and other sources is helpful, the GRE test preparation has a time limit, so your goal should be specific/finite. That doesn’t mean you can’t read from those sources, but completing the word-list should be your main focus. Additionally, don’t consider any word list as the final solution; you will encounter words whose meanings you don’t know in the real test , so it’s better to focus on strategies.
