Hi all, I m finding this gregmat mini exams quite difficult to solve which in turn is making me anxious and scared of actually GRE. I have my test scheduled on 23rd Oct and just 19 days in hand. Can you all please suggest me your way of prepping in last few weeks and how to keep anxiety at bay.
I think this is a very common perspective that most people have for GRE Mini Exam
and even @gregmat himself has acknowledged that these mini-exams can some time be a tad bit tougher than what you’ll expect in the real GRE.
I personally can’t tell on how these Mini Exam fares when compare to actual GRE as they were not available when I gave my GRE ( I exclusively restricted myself to official GRE and GMAT material.)
But during that time too I had a different way of looking at practice test. In my opinion : Failing at practice tests is actually 100x better than facing that same situation on the real GRE for three main reasons:
A) Identifying Weaknesses: When you struggle with practice tests, it’s a clear indicator of the areas where you need improvement. This is an opportunity to pinpoint those weak spots and focus your last few weeks of preparation on them.(suppose I am showing a 90% acc. in my SE questions and 70% in my RC’s questions than during those last week I will dedicated majority of my time on RC’s )
B) Managing Expectations: Achieving a specific score (xyz) on practice tests provides a realistic range. It grounds you in reality by showing you where you currently stand(some-people have a very hard time dealing with this! ). And personally I think that your score on the real GRE is likely to fall somewhere within the average range of your last few practice tests .
C) Practice test are cheaper when compared to real GRE
