In the first blank, greg says the answer should be hide, while the answer chosen is ‘suggest’
Doesn’t suggest mean show? or put forward? which is quite literally the opposite of hide?

It’s really weird, but “suggest” can mean “subtly imply” as well. That’s what’s going on here, it requires good English to solve.

Not exactly, but it does contrast the ideal of expressing something in a “plain” way.
