Gregmat TC 3 question

Im not able to understand what the sentence means after the second blank. Even though i saw the video, i cant seem to understand how the second blank was solved.
Could anyone give tips on how to break down complex sentences into simpler parts or how to approach such questions?

We know the sentence is discussing the opposition of good and evil, so the first blank likely refers to a type of conflict or battle. Words like “battle”, “struggle”, or “contest” could fit.

The second blank requires a word that describes technology in the context of good vs evil. Since the “errant will of a depraved intellectual” seems to represent the evil side, technology in this context is likely portrayed as the “good” side. Words like “benevolent”, “beneficial”, or “positive” might fit.

Note: if you really want to understand where you;re going wrong then best is to provide your understanding of the question (rough work) so, that you can exactly figure out at which step you’re making a mistake.
