Hello,
In this problem, before going on to the answer choices when i took ; as support and i looked to the right, my rephrasing was:
Classical Physicists were unable to explain how the process occurred and therefore just said that it were impossible.
Based on this my semantic guess was:
declaration
rejected
Then based on this i chose option A even though declaration didn’t match indecisiveness but still i do have evidence they were indecisive ( matching with could not explain ) so what makes it wrong please?
Also, please provide feedback on my choice of words, thank you.
Rather than matching to “could not explain”, you are matching to “declared it impossible” due to their inflexibility (conservatism) of thought. You can also see the contrast of “revolutionary” pointing to conservatism in the first half of the sentence.
Hello,
do you mean indecisiveness works but not challenge for the second blank?
Can i see the second blank as there is nothing suggesting challenge by the evidence in the sentence… can i see it this way?
I think challenge actually works better than indecisiveness… the link from “could not explain” to “indecisive” is tenuous, I don’t think one necessarily indicates the other.
I think challenge has a tenuous evidence. The second idea says: Classical physicists could not explain how it would occur and hence just termed it as it can’t happen which means it were not not geologists who labeled it the same way. so, it weren’t just geologists who were indecisive, no? But, challenge, on the other hand, nobody challenged it.
Please correct me if i have missed out something. Thankyou.
