Help with RC: Hard Verbal multiple select question

Source of the question- The Fourth Edition of the “The Official Guide to the GRE General Test”, Unit 4, Set 6- Reading Comprehension Questions: Hard

For Q4, the answer according to the answer key is A, B, C, which means all are correct. However, I take issue with the justification of option B. I agree with the fact that sunlight enters the greenhouse even after two layers of roof, but I do not see any evidence that the entry of sunlight into the greenhouse is to “make the plants grow”.

If someone says that can be inferred, since what else is sunlight needed for, or how will the plants grow without sunlight, I would say that’s storytelling. I don’t know what you are talking about if I stick to the word of Zeus here (Spoiler- I know what photosynthesis is, but I don’t want to use that knowledge). There’s no mention about this, and maybe there is some source of light placed inside the greenhouse that could play the role of actual sunlight, which helps in the plants’ growth. We don’t know if we stick to the paragraph, right?

Any help/guidance on this doubt would be appreciated. I want to know what I missed/overdid/left, or am I correct?

Unfortunately this is something the average person without specialist education is expected to know. Some inferences are like that, I don’t think we can find specific proof of that.

So, does it mean we have to convince ourselves to do storytelling sometimes, in cases like this? I am confused because this is the one thing that Greg probably would have said not to do like a hundred times (and I mean not just figuratively but literally).

I think we have evidence. It says that the sunlight is allowed into the roof of the greenhouse in order to heat the air, and that heated air is drawn down to help the plants grow. So the light from the sun is helping the plants grow.

Hi @gregmat are you talking about the last sentence where it says distilled water is used for irrigating the plants, and the relation being(inference drawn from the information) that this distilled water itself is formed using the mixture of heated air from sunlight and the greenhouse air?

I’m talking about this portion right here:
