Help with understanding lists in data analysis

Memorizing the properties of a list in quant mountain I gathered that the order of lists are important, and after taking a data analysis quiz the questions often also refer to the numbers as lists. When answering questions about mean and median If I see the word ‘list‘ I assume the missing variable has to align with a specific number given the order, but the answer choice is often D. Is assuming the order information that we don’t know unless specifically stated?

Most of the time, a “list” just refers to a group of numbers. After all, a “list” isn’t really a strict mathematical object.
