Hey can anyone explain to me why the answer is option D and not C?

This is from Test 5 Short Reading Passages Walkthrough. In the video Greg talks about Peas being easy to grow, so this means that this specific fungi is hard to cultivate. Isn’t this outside knowledge. To me both option D and C seem to be correct.

Point C was one of the two difficulties mentioned at the start of the passage but if we read further we will find that Despite these difficulties … Important new work … → Thus, point C is out

My take on it was that, since they were able to do new work on the fungi means they were able to actually perform experiments despite it being “difficult to grow” - Meaning it wasn’t as hard to grow as once thought. So difficulty in growing the plant didn’t play as a big factor in affecting the the progress of the research in this field.

New work doesn’t imply that the plant is readily available because it maybe that scientist took only a bunch of samples and performed these experiments and now are extrapolating the results.

Alright, it makes sense now. Thanks!
