?How can I do the contrast/support method in this exercise?

Hello!

Hoping my message finds you well!

I am really confused on which one are the contrast and support words. And specially the negative/positive part for this exercise:

Scientists’ pristine reputation as devotees of the disinterested pursuit of truth has been ----- by
recent evidence that some scientists have deliberately —- experimental results to further their own careers.

Greg explains in S6D3W1 of the one month plan, that the second blank is a negative with a supporting connector “to”. But “furthering their own careers” is a good thing, right?

And the first blank was kinda impossible for me.

Thanks in advance

It depends on the context, really sometimes the positive or negative , Furthering your career unethically is a bad thing.

Let’s start with B2, and think of just semantics:

  1. B2 describes what scientists deliberately did to their experimental results
  2. Support
  3. Other idea: ‘further their own careers’

What would scientists do intentionally to experimental results to SUPPORT the idea that they want to push their career forwards
