How important are verbal strategies for my case and target?

Hi Greg/Vince/fellow travellers,

My diagonostic test results were 168/170 in Q, and 151 in V which I took about 3 weeks ago. My target school cutoff is practically 170 in Q (85 percentile), and 15 percentile in Verbal. My quant fundamentals are good but I am still going through all PrepSwift videos, exercises and practicing questions. For verbal, I am doing vocab mountain, maintaining 90% recall, revising every day. I am on day 13 now. I plan to continue this for 3 more weeks and take my GRE in mid-August. What I am not able to do is watch vocab strategy videos, because I am simply left with no time after work, Gre Quant, German classes, vocab mountain. I am confused whether I should reasses my timeline to include more verbal theory like strategies from Greg because by mid-August I will be able to do only vocab mountain and GRE official practice questions (from the 4th edition guide, not the big book). The biggest thing I am scared of getting 170 in quant but flunking on 15 percentile in Verbal, and having to redo everything again!

15th percentile is approximately 144V.

Your baseline is above that.

You’d have to be extremely unlucky to score on the lower end of your baseline ( using ±5 score points variation) especially given everything you’ve shared about your verbal prep.

Watch a few of the strategy videos if you can, and you should be good.

“Lock In” with the quant too - 170q demands near perfection.

9 standard deviations?

I meant score points. I have edited for clarity.

Okay thanks for the reply. I guess I will go ahead with mid August take, and hopefully all goes well! I’ll cover the verbal prepswift videos I think.

Understood!
