How much vocab is enough?

Hi guys,

I am just wondering if GregMat’s Vocab list is enough? I know there are vocab lists containing 3000 words.

I made sure I knew about 900 so to me 3,000 seems like complete overkill. The 870 are 98% of what you’ll need.

If you want to be uber-prepared for rare ETS curveballs on 4 and 5 TE/SE questions I’d bump that up to 1,000 or 1,100.

Unless I had years to prepare and tutoring GRE was my job I would not memorize 2,000 extra words just for the chance of getting one more question correct. That one elusive question is going to have negligible impacts on your score (and may not even affect it at all) so IMO your time is better spent elsewhere.
