Taking the equation for Arithmetic progression

an = a+(n-1)d

an is to be calculated

1st multiple is 87 which is a

so there are 44 more multiples in the list between 85 and b

d = 3 (as multiple is 3)

substitute in equation

an = 87+43*3 = 216

the largest number possible must be 218 (as 219 will become 46th multiple)

No. There are 44 more multiples between 87 and *b*. As you said, the first multiple is 87.

This should be 44, not 43. You’re otherwise on the right track.
