I’m not super familiar with the math strategy yet, how can it be applied here as I can’t decide if either sentence is supporting or contrasting, not sure what keyword to look out for either. Thanks!
you can use “refused” as the contradictory word, and this will be a negative word. So what you are looking for is a positive word. If you look at the end you can see the : which states that the idea on the right will support the one on left. For the 1st blank you can guess the word “tolerate”. and as the second idea is also means the same we can use the same word for 2nd blank. Now, if you look at the options there is only one option which matches this.
Option C.
for blank (i) option C doesn’t make much sense
I see, fair point about using “refused”. But I’d think tolerate wouldn’t fit because its not the opposite of correcting, I think its not strong enough. Just fyi though, the answer is A
You don’t need to focus on extra information much.
For first blank, you can focus on word “is” which denotes support. The right part says it is forced to correct. If it is now forced then previously they must have refused to correct them or admit them. My initial guess for blank was correct. Answer choice B matches. C can be directly eliminated based on this guess
for second part, the colon denotes support so if it is forced to correct then the mistakes is not tolerated anymore thus blank 2 should be synonym of tolerate thus B is wrong.
Now we need to look for tolerate in blank 2 . A and C matches but we have already eliminated answer C thus A is correct
