The GRE has two types of essay prompts.
Type 1: The best way to measure a country’s progress is by its level of education and healthcare.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.
Type 2: Claim: In any situation, the best way to persuade other people is to present them with facts and statistics rather than with emotional arguments.
Reason: Facts are objective, so they are more persuasive than subjective appeals.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim and the reason on which that claim is based.
I’ve watched this video and read this post on how to outline and write essays of Type 1. But I want an outline or example essay for type 2. I know I have to have a stance on both the claim and the reason in my thesis, but it seems more complicated than type 1 since I have to defend my stance on the claim and the reason in my body paragraphs. I want some advice on how to use examples that address both of these.
Are there any resources (outline/examples) for type 2 essays?
