How to pick the best book to read on a popular topic to passively improve my reading capabilities?

In an ideal world, you would have years to passively read.
Even if I had more time to read, and I was interested in a topic with a ton of books on it, how do you narrow down which one to read?

Personally, I don’t think one can actively find that much benefit by reading a book or two in a span of two months or so. People who benefits from reading are those who are doing it over a long period of time. Better to target practice stuff from BigBook and official material.

\hspace{20mm} But Greg did suggest stuff if people are interested in reading outside GRE material. You can find it here https://www.gregmat.com/recommended-resources
