Hey Greg. I am resuming my prep and planning to sit for gre in next 20-30 days. I understood the concept of knowing synonyms and how it helps with SE. However, out of the list of synonyms that’s present in google, how to know or select just 2-3 words which will be GRE synonyms?
Also, there are these words which mean similar but are not mentioned as direct synonym of the word in google. eg: Assuage (Syn: Mitigate) & Ameliorate (Syn: Mitigate). In some context they can be synonyms but google does not show them as synonyms. What do we do when we see these words in a SE question in GRE?
I have few more examples that confused me (So far only completed till Group 3.)
- Deify & Canonize
- Abound (verb) & burgeon (adj)
Please share your thoughts on this and how can I mold my thought process during exams to ensure I don’t get tangled in these words.
