How to stay motivated and keep it interesting while preparing for GRE

Hi guys,

I am having a hard time staying motivated while studying for the GRE. And most of the time I end up switching to other projects I am working on and coming back to it after a while already forgotten the tricks I learned before.
So, my question is how do you guys keep it interesting while studying and investing so much in this test. And how do you somehow incorporate the skills you gain from preparing for this test to your future aspirations, be it engineering or other fields.

Following things worked for me:

  • Booking a test date before I start

  • Giving a diagnostic before I began prepping and using most of time on my weaknesses rather than studying everything.

  • Keeping a separate slot for GRE in my daily schedule (if you’re working than 1:30- 2hrs is enough on workdays & then you can stretch it on weekends)

  • Pre-planning my days in advance (if you need a baseline then look at 1 month or two month plans)

  • Deciding which materials I will target (https://new.gregmat.com/recommended-resources)

  • If you feel more productive via group study then looking for a GRE study partner is a good idea but don’t make a study group too large otherwise it can have opposite effect on your productivity.

Thank you for your insights. I already did the test and waiting for the diagnostic report. When it comes out i think i will see where my weaknesses are regarding the test. Also, i have noticed my time management needs improvement, especially in Verbal.
