Interesting Scenario of 3 similar words in Pairing Problem

See the problem above, I chose engaged and involved initially as they are similar. However, I didn’t know complicated means involved too. Here is what google says and looks like we have 3 choices correct.

However, I do agree that complicated/complex is the obvious choice for the blank as it matches convoluted. But then we have 3 choices with the same meaning, so what do we do?

No meaning of engaged means complex

But following Greg’s strategy, we don’t look at the question right. We first find pairs and by doing that we get a triplet. So how do you proceed next?

If you make pairs then one of your given pair has 3 words instead of two then either your pairing is wrong or one of the word didn’t make sense to begin with . Also, if you can’t find a solution through pairing then you can approach it in a TC question style approach!

The major advantage of pairing strategy is in the time it saves as you don’t read the question and directly look at choices and make pairs {this should take 30sec} then you glace the question once and select an option from those pair → thus, the whole process is taking around 45 -50sec and as you’ve gotten 1:30min per question thus, pairing saves you around 40 sec per question ! Also, sometimes there is only a single pair thus , there is a 90% chance that it will be the answer.

Now, the time that you’ve saved should be used to re-check the questions !
