Is it possible to increase VR score from 155 to 160 in a month?

I recently took a test and scored 317, but I only achieved 155 in the Verbal Reasoning (VR) section. English is not my first language, and I’m unsure if I can reach 160 in VR, although I need to score 160 or higher.
The time frame is another concern. Do you have any tips for improving VR as a non-native English speaker? If you managed to improve your VR score by 5+ points from the 155 range within a month, how did you do it?

  1. How is your vocab? I recommend testing it using the vocab mountain in gregmat, or someones flashcards online. If your vocab is significantly weak (maybe you get <70% right out of a sample of 50 words), then you will benefit greatly by increasing vocab

Otherwise, you can definitely cover a lot of ground in a month regarding the rest of verbal. You could go through the one month plan but only focus on verbal, or watch through prepswift videos on verbal topics. I think id recommend you to use the 1 month plan but focus mostly on the verbal content.

What I would suggest is you try to review any questions youve done or practice tests to figure out if you have glaring weaknesses (specific RC question types, vocab, pairing, etc.) and try to tackle those issues.

In general a 5 point jump isnt insurmountable at all, so just keep up vocab and practice concepts that you may be especially weak at.

Hey Kevin,

Thank you so much!
I noticed that many reviews mentioned people gaining 5+ points when their scores were in the low 150s. It made me wonder if improving from the mid-150s to the low 160s might be more challenging. I thought of reaching out via email, but I also feel there’s no other way forward than to keep grinding.

Thanks again!

Well, try not to limit yourself based on what would be a challenging vs easy goal. Be proactive in studying and aim for as high as you can get with the time and resources you have available. Anything else is out of our control. Good luck!
