Issue Essay - AWA help!

For some reason, my score is not going above 4. I tried following the gregmat template to organize my essay. Can someone tell me what I’m missing? Is is the examples? Is is the sentence construction?

Prompt:
Critical judgment of work in any given field has little value unless it comes from someone who is an expert in that field.

My response that got a 4 according to chatgpt:
With the advent of the Internet and various social media platforms, it is becoming extremely easy for people who are not experts to express their opinions on topics with little to no consequences or backlash from authorities and other people. However, that doesn’t make the opinions expressed by these laypersons valuable. The prompt takes the stance that critical judgment of work in any given field has little value unless the judgment comes from an expert of the field. In my opinion, I mostly agree with the prompt for the following two reasons though I do concede that even experts can make faulty judgements and their opinions could be inaccurate.

First, experts have the knowledge and experience to make informed judgments which tend to be more accurate than those made by the average individual with no expertise. For example, to an untrained eye, an X-ray of the lungs of a person may look benign. However, a medical professional who has undergone years if not decades of training, would be able to identify pneumonia affected lungs in an instant. To a normal person, a piece of Modern Art might just look like a bunch of paint splatters but an expert Art Curator would be able to identify how valuable the piece is by analyzing its quality thoroughly. In these scenarios, the opinions of a non-expert hold little to no value and therefore, should not really be given importance.

Second, with the advent of the Internet and social media there are too many conflicting schools of thought available online. Everyone thinks that they are an expert just because they’ve read a few articles. In times like these, it is very important to focus on expert opinions and ignore the disinformation that is disseminated. For example, a few years, during the COVID-19 pandemic, there were multiple fake articles that spoke about how the vaccine was causing heart-attacks and was injecting poison into our bodies. Many people fell prey to this false news and did not take the vaccine which caused a lot of damage world-wide due to the unchecked spread of the virus. Had people only listened to experts, we would have been able to control the situation much sooner. In this scenario, the voices of others didn’t add anything valuable to the discourse. In fact, they made the situation worse.

However, I do concede that experts can be wrong. The world is constantly evolving. Things that experts might have thought was best a hundred years ago, such as smoking while pregnant would help curb appetites and keep you healthy, would be considered ridiculous today. Galileo proposed a theory that rejected what most of the expert Astronomers in his time believed. He claimed that the Sun was the center of the Solar System and was executed for it even though he was right. The average person might actually discover something that is true even if it goes against what experts say, therefore, their opinions should not be completely ignored and rejected without giving them any thought.

In conclusion, I believe that critical judgements provided by experts hold more value than those provided by the common man. However, even experts can be wrong sometimes and we should always be careful not to trust their judgements blindly.

Is this the ChatGPT grader? Please note that the scoring isn’t always accurate, I wouldn’t take it too seriously.
