How to approach a long passage question with too many details of a process.
Finding the main idea becomes too difficult. In this particular case , what strategy should we apply?
The best approach we can follow for long passage is
- Find main idea for each paragraph
- Find relation between each main idea from 3 paragraphs(assuming long passage is of 3 paras)
- Sum them all three based on their relationship
That’s your main idea of whole passage
Tricks:
- Most likely the first paragraph introduces something and later paras talk about pros and cons of it
- Always read the first paragraph completely. Then in next paras the first two lines in each paragraph will give you an idea of what that para is talking about
