So I focused on divisions, found contrast due to ‘but’. So at first I thought very simply (binary?) and said ok the opposite of beatiful/polished. But then I saw ‘oddly’ and the fact that the room was ‘unresonate’. So given that the room didn’t allow for nice sound AND the word oddly, based on the math I thought there should be a positive word.
Then for the first blank it’s supporting that entire section. So when performance is good and the auditorium is bad but still the sound is good, then the setting resolved a paradox i.e. dilemma.
Now the concrete question: should I not have taken into account the adjectives cold, unresonant and solely focus on beauty vs the opposite? What am I doing wrong. I was convinced I was being thorough
The clue given to us are "given the energy players seemed to putting into it " and “elegant and polished”.
Now, look at clue 1 “given the energy players seemed to putting into it” → Thus, players are putting their effort in but the sound is oddly something thus, unusual given the band actions → hence the blank will be something related to sound but not in a positive manner !
the another clue we were given was elegant and polished and we know that the band is putting it energy into it but due to the contrast word but we’ve to go apposite of this idea of elegant, polished and full effort → thus, we’re looking for words which matches this idea : dull, tasteless , flat etc…
so oddly doesn’t do anything then
read after the blank(ii) ________ given the energy the players seemed to be putting into it.
The sentence after the blank is positive but if you look before the blank there is “oddly” → means something different than usual. Now, what does the oddly referring to? Its referring to the sound
If you look at the question each blank is hinting towards a positive idea if you just read the sentences just after the blanks! But it’s due to words “But” and “Oddly” both that the blanks changes to negative ideas!
