Mean and median relationship

Why the condition 3<x<9 or 20<y<39 given.
If x is 1 and violate the condition : 1<3, still median is 20 or, if y =60, stil median is 20.

Shouldn’t the condition be x must be less than 20 and y must be greater than 20, for median to be 20.

Probably meant to be sorted at that time?

I didn’t understand your reply.

@Leaderboard please check the mean median relationship video of prepswift

OK. The video clearly says that it’s an assumption - and with that assumption in place, the median indeed is 20. That doesn’t mean that cases outside the assumption would necessarily have a different median.
