x is a positive integer. When x is divided by 2, 4, 6 or 8, the remainder is 1

Column A x Column B 24

I solved it and thought that x can be minimum 25 which greater than 24, so should be A. BUT, the answer was D and apparently explanation is that x can be 1, when the quotient is 0. This whole concept is sorcery, can you help me comprehend this greg?

I do understand how this is logical but I have never seen it being used even in advanced mathematics, so I am unable to understand its usage here. It seems like the 2+2=5 prove kinda thing
