Dear Gregmat community,
I recently decided to drop GMAT entirely due to AWA + quant ceiling (got one wrong and scored really low).
I’m fully committed to going for the GRE now. I heard from everyone that gregmat is the best in the industry for GRE, so I instantly subscribed.
The issue I’m facing is, I feel most of the 1/2 month programs are not really meant for someone that switched from GMAT(because of overlapping math syllabus that I covered during my 4 month prep). So I’m kinda scratching my head on how to proceed. For reference my first mock is 154V/160Q. I struggled with the geometry questions because I never studied those for GMAT. Slight struggle with verbal because of the format, I was pretty good at Verbal on the gmat and constantly scored 80+ percentile and answered 80-90+ percentile questions accurately. I’m beginning to memorise words now and have a lot of fun doing it because of my natural inclination towards verbal content (I’m a native speaker).
Could anyone direct me on how I should start my gregmat prep as someone coming from GMAT? Would love any advice on this! I’m planning to take the test in a month. Aiming for 320+ score.
which is not generally a good strategy in my opinion. It is obvious that the GMAT has a very harsh curve for quant, so why did you not retake that test instead?
Take an official practice test first.
There’s many reasons why I opted for GRE instead. One of the main reasons is AWA, I don’t want to have to do another test on top of GMAT FE. The GRE test feels a lot better for me, I like the ability to review all my questions and after my first mock yesterday I felt very comfortable with the test. The GMAT is not so simple because the 705+ GMAT questions just don’t feel right to me, the quant in GRE is significantly easier (for me atleast) which is my weak point in GMAT. I’m adamant on pursuing the GRE instead - courses I’m interested either have GRE/GMAT or GRE only, makes more sense for me to opt for GRE.
But aside all my personal reasoning for the switch, I did do a mock and scored 154V/160Q on my first mock from ETS.
I just need guidance on how to prep… it’s like I don’t know how to start on gregmat’s resources as someone coming from GMAT. There’s a lot of overlapping information which I feel is unnecessary to go through all over again. For reference I completed TTP GMAT, OG GMAT books (inc/ quant/verbal/all-in-one books). And did like hundreds of 605-705+ Q/V questions on GMATCLUB.
