So, probability can’t exceed 1 right? Let’s suppose probability p = 0.7. What does 3p equal? Would p just be treated as a number in this case, and 3p = 2.1?

Yup, 3p essentially means 3 times the probability so 2.1 still is well within the limits i.e. 3
