I took the TOEFL test 2 days after writing GRE and barely had to study for it! But here are some things I did before the test:
-
I only used ETS materials. The super pack of 3: TOEFL general book and 2 practise test books.
-
Reading Section: I focused mainly on the last question (summary and table questions). If you’ve written the GRE, then 60-70 minutes is more than sufficient time for the reading passages. So I didn’t necessarily time myself when practicing for reading. But try to answer each passage within 15 minutes.
-
Listening Section: Practise how to take fast notes!!! Use abbreviations, try to document the important parts of the conversation/lecture. Practise using the computer version of each test. There is simply no other way to do this.
-
Speaking Section: Honestly I concentrated on this the most. Even though English is my first language, under testing conditions, it is easy to stutter or lose train of thought. practise speaking in noisy environments because there will most likely be 20 other students taking the test at the same time, so be prepared for any kind of distractions.
-
Writing Section: I can personally vouch for Greg’s essay templates. It helped me save time on the test by not having to worry about the format, structure or even the introduction and conclusion. IT WORKS! Just practice 3-4 essays using the prompts on the ETS website and stick to the templates.
Thanks Greg!
