Hi everybody,
So, I took the test yesterday (at-home test) and got below average score (unofficial), I’m feeling pretty defeated. I was very nervous and anxious before taking the test, and to make matter worse, I had some technical troubleshooting right at the check in time but was still able to proceed with the test. During the quant section, my proctor interrupted me for 3-4 mins asking for camera adjustments and whiteboard erasing demands.
I started prepping since late September with mostly Greg’s 2 months plan, practiced with quant exercises in the 5lbs Manhattan book and supplemented with the common vocab deck from the Magoosh vocab app. After finishing Week4 of the 2months plan, I did the mock PP1 from ETS under the same timed conditioned and got 153V 157Q. I felt I didn’t managed my time as well as I should on quant in the PP1 and thought I can mange better on the real test. So practice most of the Bigbook quant in timed conditioned and usually got 25-29/30 correct. I watched all the time management videos in the member area before test date but both of my unofficial scores on test date are below this (148V 154Q).
I admit that my prep was a bit rushed because my application deadlines are Feb 1 (with a school that makes GRE optional) and March 15 (with a school that required GRE). Due to working a full-time job, I only spent around 3-4 hrs daily to study, but I did managed to finished Week 7 and some of Week 8 in Greg’s study plan before test date. On the other hand, I’ve been out of school almost 5yrs, English is my second language, reading and writing had never been my strong points but I do consider my foundation in math decent enough. I haven’t take the PP2 or any other PP+ yet.
Is it realistic to expect pulling off 160+ Q, 155+ V in 1-2 months with where I am right now? How long should I wait and prep again for the second test? Should I go for 1 month from now and re-take the test at the end of January? Or should I schedule to re-take at the end of February?
Any advice is appreciated.
