I need guidance as I’m planning to take my fourth GRE attempt in 21 days.
So far, I’ve attempted the GRE three times, and my scores are as follows:
Attempt 1: 153V, 165Q
Attempt 2: 158V, 162Q
Attempt 3: 149V, 167Q
Practice test scores:
GRE PP Plus 2: 160V, 169Q
GRE PP Plus 1: 151V, 161Q
GregMat Test 1: 155V, 166Q
GregMat Test 2: 161V, 169Q
GregMat Test 3: 159V, 168Q
I’m aiming for at least 325+ on this final attempt, as I can’t afford to retake it again.
I’ve followed the GregMat 2-month plan, watching all the videos, taking notes, and completing the homework and assignments. I only used PrepSwift for Quant because I find it much easier compared to Verbal and believe I have a solid grasp of the fundamentals. For Verbal, I watched the full-length lectures from the 2-month plan and did most of my practice using the Big Book and Official Guide. I did skip some practice recommended in the last few days of the plan.
For vocabulary, I’ve studied up to Group 25, and I’m planning to go up to Group 32. My current strategy involves revising Verbal from my notes and PrepSwift, and completing the verbal practice I missed from the 2-month plan, along with doing more practice tests.
Should I change my approach to improving my Verbal score in the next 21 days? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
When did you take these tests exactly? The GregMat V scores might not be reflective, especially if you’ve seen some questions before. Do you have any powerpreps you can take to see where you really are?
Thank you, Ganesh, for your response. I agree that the verbal scores on the GregMat tests may be somewhat skewed. Here are the timelines of when I took these practice tests:
Practice Test Scores:
GRE PowerPrep Plus 2: 160V, 169Q | August 19, 2024
GRE PowerPrep Plus 1: 151V, 161Q | July 22, 2024
GregMat Test 1: 155V, 166Q | September 11, 2024
GregMat Test 2: 161V, 169Q | September 12, 2024
GregMat Test 3: 159V, 168Q | September 17, 2024
I only have PowerPrep Test 2 and paid PowerPrep Plus 3 remaining.
Should I take the untimed PowerPrep 2 now and save the third paid one for later when I’m fully prepared?
Also, how should I plan my verbal revision over the next 20 days? I’m thinking of working through the remaining questions from the Big Book, ETS Official Verbal Practice, and the Official Guide. Would highly appreciate your thoughts regarding this!
