Need help in one Verbal Text Completion Problem

Hi Everyone, I’m new to GregMat and was just looking at these Text Completion Problems (Navigate to Practice> Verbal Problems and in the tags select all tags for TC)
I came across this one problem which seems a little difficult to comprehend. I don’t see a solution provided to this as well. Could someone help me understand this?

The word “reconcile” is the clue for the blank. You reconcile two things that are working against each other.

Can we alternatively use “arguing for a nuanced synthesis” which, in my opinion, suggests there is some difference between the two theories?
