Next step in quant preparation

Hi everyone,
To give a bit of background:
I’ve been struggling with timed quant practice. When solving untimed questions from 5lb and Nova, I usually get around 80% correct. But in timed conditions, the approach doesn’t click right away, and I end up skipping and coming back to questions—this back-and-forth wastes a lot of time.
After I shared this with Greg, he suggested:
• Do foundation quizzes – I did them and performed well.
• Attempt random sections from the Big Book – I got 28, 28, and 29 out of 30 in three different tests.
• Do medium untimed quizzes on the GregMat platform – I scored 8/12 and 9/12.
Here’s the key thing I noticed:
The mistakes I made were not conceptual but silly calculation or reading errors—things I knew but missed under pressure or due to speed.
Current situation:

• I have around 2.5–3 hours on weekdays and full weekends to study
• I’m aiming to give the GRE in August, but feeling nervous due to repeated 307 scores:
• 2022: 307
• 2024: 307
• GregMat PP1 (Feb): 307
I want to break out of this plateau and hit 325+, especially in quant.
My question to the community:
• How can I reduce silly mistakes in timed settings?
• I reread question - a LOT
• Should I move to hard quizzes/mock tests now, or focus on strengthening focus and accuracy in medium-level sets and how can I do it?
• Any techniques that helped you all to build real-time accuracy?

First: check your foundation by completing one of the two routes at Quant Foundation Quizzes - GregMat (where it says “in addition, non-subscribers…”).

@Leaderboard Last week I emailed greg the same thing and he suggested to take these quizzes. As mentioned above I have taken them and performed well.

How well? Share your scores.

Here are my scores for foundation quizzes.

Arithmetic - 22/25

  • I forgot factor and multiples property of zero

Algebra - 13/14

Coordinate - 12/12

  • I was pretty weak in coordinate, so I had practised a lot of questions from different materials.

Geometry - 14/15

Data Analysis - 12/15

  • Faced issue in probability questions

  • Even in mixed practice sets, probability and PNC questions are causing trouble.

OK that one. What were your sectional scores in the three tests you took?

28/30
28/30
29/30
And then he told to take medium 12 question tests on which I got 8/12 and 9/12.

I meant the full tests, sorry. So the ones from your two ETS attempts plus our practice test.

I have been preparing since january now, and plan to give in August, as my target is fall 2026
I have already missed two years because of low score. My target is MSIS course, hence I need good quant score.

First: take a test now and report your scores here. We don’t have any recent data.

Okay, PP2?

Would work.
