Nothing to lose?

Hello!
I am scheduled to take the GRE on Sunday. I took the GRE a year ago and scored low but high enough to meet the minimum and apply to the schools I am trying to get into. 148v 149Q 4.0W. That test was after a few months of studying with a terrible test prep program. Unfortunately it took that experience to realize there was better out there. So now, I have been studying with GregMat and love it but I have only studied one week. I have learned some, but clearly I am not as prepared as I could be. Applications are due starting August 1 and so I don’t have time to improve much for my first application. (For the second one I will definitely study-due in October).

Here is my question? Do you think I should take the GRE anyway as it won’t hurt me to try?..or don’t bother because the GRE isn’t a “luck based” kind of test?

I do feel like I have a pretty strong application otherwise, but I know my GRE scores are bringing me down. I also met with an advisor who confirmed my scores were low and raising them would be better, but still possible that I could get in. She also said I could separate the writing scores from the QV and if my writing score improves, they would take the highest writing score. So maybe I just focus on writing this week?
At this point I am changing my mind on a daily basis (which is not a good place to be for GRE exam day) and I have to decide by Wed. in order to get a partial refund.

Thanks for any advice or support that you have!

Hey mate, I think you have a good writing score. Have you taken any PP (free) or PPP (paid) tests? You can try gauging yourself using any of these tests. I can’t advise you to do or not to do anything but I will say this, if I already had a well rounded application and a decent GRE score would increase my prospects by a significant margin, I’d focus on working on my GRE skills and then take the test.

You can also ask Greg in the Q&A sessions!

I hope you find the clarity you’re looking for.

Thanks for your input!
Yes…I attending the morning session today with Greg but I didn’t know about signing in early to raise my hand. He never got to me. :frowning: I only have 2 days to decide at this point and until I decide I’m not sure how to proceed with my studying. I haven’t taken the PP recently, just last year when I was prepping for the GRE. I scored similarly. I guess I feel like you need to go into the GRE feeling calm and confident and frantic moves don’t really help. Leaning more towards postponing…
Thanks for chiming in!
