Hi everyone, reproducing a sample question from Prep swift

Still don’t understand why quantity B is larger as I chose they are equal. The solution said something along this line: “Read the question carefully. It is not asking you to find y or x, rather it is asking you to find the number of possible values of y and x. Those aren’t the same.”

I do not understand the distinction, can someone help to elaborate?

It is because y can have 2 values

Thanks for taking time to reply. Wouldn’t it the same for x? At the end, both are square root of 14?

y can be -\sqrt{14}.

It’s not the same ,inside the square root the value cannot be negative so x has one value
