I am having trouble answering the second and the third blank. There is a ‘But’ before blank 2 so the idea before it should contrast with the idea after blank where we have a blank. Idea 1 suggests clarity and force so shouldn’t idea 2 be something like weak or unclear. Since the answer to blank 3 depends on blank 2 I am not able to get that.
Please suggest the gap in my logic.

You’re right, but “are considerable” is already contrasting with “sometimes bothers critics”, since one is positive and one is negative, so the rest of the idea has to stay the same.
