The extended family (grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles) is less important
now than it was in the past.
Some people might agree that the extended family like grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles are less important in the current generation than in the past but I think they are as much important as now as they were back in the time. Here are 3 reasons why they are important.
Starting with, the grandparents are the backbone of the family because of them the household has been structured, being a foundation, the little ones of the family can learn about the two generations before them. For instance, I learned about the independence of the India from my grandfather then the History books, he used to give real-world instances in his life and a deeper perspective of the situation in a young life. Likewise goes with grandmother, she used to tell me different kinds of stories when she was in her 20s and 30s, how the girls were used to be treated, how she cope up with the male dominant situation in her career.
Additionally, when it comes to uncles and aunties I learned more about my parents how they used to behave in childhood,what mischievous they did in early days and also about there struggle in building wonderful lifestyle. For example, whenever my aunt used to call my dad with different names and the other way around, me and my younger relatives used to be curious about the story behind the weird name, listening to those anecdotes always creates a joyful atmosphere around the house.
Lastly, the cousins are always the one who always take care of us and if they are younger we can be the ones to protect them. Also, they can be your best friends, if you don’t have one to share your troubles and stories to discuss. Such as, my cousins are always supporting each other when one needs help, I was 10 years old and used to struggle to learn history one of my cousins helped me to remember the dates and facts in history which eventually helped me score better in the final exams
In conclusion, the extended family is crucial for me, even in today’s time.
