[PowerPrep 1] TC (3 blanks)

The question of (i) _________ in photography has lately become nontrivial. Prices for vintage prints (those made by a photographer soon after he or she made the negative) so drastically (ii) _________ in the 1990s that one of those photographs might fetch a hundred times as much as a nonvintage print of the same image. It was perhaps only a matter of time before someone took advantage of the (iii) ________ to peddle newly created “vintage” prints for profit.

I am confused only with the first blank. I can see the answer is forgery.
According to google, forgery means imitation or copying. Where is the evidence in the text about imitation or copying? Anybody please help me find the evidence.

it’s in the citation marks of “vintage” prints. These signs can either denote a literal quote, or (as in this case) denote irony. So here using “vintage” in the last line shows that these are not truly so. Furhtermore, “newly created” is additional support that those products are fake.

I struggled with this one under time as well. However, if you “zoom out” and try and grasp the story, then you’ll be able to pick up the clues that @bookworm mentioned, which will help you draw the right logic for the first blank. In my opinion, the first blank depends on the logic of the rest of the passage.

Can someone please explain 3rd blank as well. How it is discrepancy and not duplicity
