In the above question, the phrase “increase by 16,000” confused me. Generally, when we say something increased by x then don’t we multiply it by x?
For eg, “the sales this year increase by 2 from June to December”. Wouldn’t that mean that the sales in December is twice of June? Or does it mean that the Sales in December = 2+ Sales in June? Does this logic apply to all such “increased by x” questions?
