What strategy can we use here? I tried applying the math strategy, but after reading the first sentence, I couldn’t really use it. When I did this question untimed, I realized that rife means “common,” so for the first blank, I thought- it’s incorrect to say it’s different. Similarly, for the second blank, I chose private because of the next sentence. Based on the logic of the passage, unprecedented also seemed to fit. But is that the right strategy? I don’t want to rely on storytelling or assumptions. Also, this approach took a lot of time, so it might not be practical during the actual test. Please help.
What is your accuracy like when you solve TC questions in general?
My accuracy on TC is usually around 60–70%, but it can drop to 50% on tough ones. I’ve noticed that midway through difficult questions, I sometimes abandon the strategy and go with intuition instead — especially when I can’t pin down the sentence logic quickly.
Tough questions can be frustrating so I understand why you’d fall back on intuition as a method to solve a question.
It seems to me that you are still working on and making progress in improving your accuracy. Why don’t you keep at it? There’s really no shortcut except doing untimed practice and incrementally reducing the time you take to solve questions (always with the goal of 100% accuracy). No matter how hard it may seem, stick to your process and don’t rely on intuition. Sometimes, it helps to dedicate 2-3 days exclusively for TC. That’s how I made the most progress when I was studying verbal.
This is very helpful. I can try dedicating some time to TC or RC or whichever area I am stuck in to improve my accuracy. Thank you so much!
the skipping strategy lmao
