Practising Reading Comprehension

Hello guys,
Hope you are doing well. I am practising Reading Comprehension passages from the GMAT official guide and trying to apply the reading strategies properly. Whenever I am going through a passage I am focusing on applying only one strategy at a time, for example, I am solving passages only by applying “simplify the sentences”. And soon I am planning to practice other strategies in this manner as well. Is this the right approach?
While doing a passage sometimes I find sentences so long and complex that It becomes difficult to simplify them using 5-7 words. What should I do in such cases?
And am I trying to fit or apply a strategy for all the cases while different strategies come in handy for different types and structures of sentences?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Going sentence by sentence becomes difficult it its a long passage. While you should keep on practicing simplifying sentences for shorter passages , you should turn to main idea of each passage when taking long RC’s.
