Hi all,

Could someone please explain why we found out what ‘x’ equals, and not just added all the 'x’s up and put 5x over 16x?

Thank you!

Because you want to find the value of the probabilities 3x, 5x, 7x and 11x, which requires finding x first.

I believe the answer is 5/26. From probability theory, the sum of all the different probabilities for an event equals to one. Hence, 3x + 5x + 7x + 11x = 26 => x = 1/26. So the second least likely outcome is 5 * (1/26)
