QC Questions : Learning from mistakes: Don't compare your answer with JUST other Quantity

1 − x/x − 1 = 1/x

Quantity A x
Quantity B -1/2

Was doing this question yesterday and I chose D, which is incorrect. I just want to underscore the mistake i made, Instead of plugging the gotten answer for variable x in equation and in quantity A, I just plugged it into Quantity A and chose the answer as D. So instead of getting the correct answer I did everything hastily and selected the wrong answer choice, so just take 5 more seconds after solving and have full presence of mind while selecting the answer choice too, don’t just dedicate yourself in solving the question and getting the answer right.
As Greg rightfully says, don’t fall at the end of the race after doing everything right.

Hahah I made the same mistake too
Checking answers are just as much important as solving problems efficiently, I’m realizing this more and more each day. But don’t know if I can keep my cool and execute this lesson on test day. Can’t know till I try!

Yes, already have started to focus it in my un-timed and eventually in timed. After getting such questions wrong, I am like ughhhhh damn you GRE, I wont let you trick me next time hahaha

Does the original question like \cfrac{1-x} {x-1}=\cfrac{1}{x} ? If this is the case, then isn’t the value of x is either -1 or 1? Why D is wrong? I’m confused af. Ugh, shit, never mind. Damn it denominator restriction.
