In the Mean,Median, Mode lecture (week-4 Day-2) greg says the following data (5,10,10,10,10,15) is symmetrical if you draw a line through the middle.
But 5,10,10 is not symmetrical to 10,10,15? Can someone help me understand this please?
When we say symmetric, it doesn’t mean the data points are exactly the same.
It means the distance from the median or middle to the corresponding terms above and below are the same.
For example, the median here is 10.
The distance from 10 (the median) to 15 is 5 which is the same distance from 10 (the median) to 5.
So the distance from the median to the first term and last term should be the same.
The distance from the second term and the last but one term should be the same.
