In the question, Greg indicates the answer is true because the number of multiples of integer a from 1 to integer b is equal to the quotient of b÷a. I answered false because a is only restricted onto the integers, not the natural numbers. Given the range 1 to integer b, b seems necessarily positive, but a isn’t bound by that restriction.
If a is a negative integer, and b is a positive integer, the quotient of b÷a is negative. However, a negative quantity of multiples seems to me a nonsensical result.
I would argue the statement would be correct if the quotient were captured in an absolute value |b÷a| to convert it to a non-negative counting value.
