I got all the way to the end of problem correctly and then messed up because of the question’s wording. I got to: Both = 20 + Neither and saw “every family has a son, a daughter, both or none“ so I assumed each category was > 0. With this, I got A as the answer when the correct answer was actually D because Neither could be >= 0.
It was pretty frustrating that I got the concept right but messed up on the wording.
I want to figure out how I can avoid this in the future. How can this problem (and others) be worded to clarify that each category does indeed have > 0? Hopefully I can watch out for key words to know on the real exam.
