for this, i looked for a “contrast”, and decided to pick “didactic” which could be opposed to a “nuanced synthesis”. i’d love to understand how the answer is “incompatible”.

Sorry for the late reply. Firstly this is a GregMat problem, not an ETS one so I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
You’re right that didactic somewhat contrasts with “nuanced”, but the blank is more asking us to support the idea of “reconciling” - which means to bring together two things that are fighting/don’t fit.
Just because two theories are didactic doesn’t mean we have to reconcile them, they might both be didactic with the same POV
