Query regarding Fractions - Help with Basics

Hi Everyone!

I had a very silly doubt in the below question.

You have 2 fractions, 1/4 and 5/6 and you want to rewrite them so they have the same denominator ( and have whole number numerators )
What numbers could you use for the denominator?
a) 8 b) 12 c) 18 d) 24

Now looking at the options, the answers are pretty clear. 12 and 24.

But my doubt is if the question didn’t explicitly mention " have whole number numerators", would all 4 options then qualify as correct answers?
Because it is possible for 5/6 to have 8 as a denominator if we multiply both the numerator and denominator by 8/6. The only diff being now the numerator might be a decimal value.
In this case, something like 66.66/8.
Not sure if this even makes sense.
Would appreciate any help!

I am pretty sure they want the denominator to be the same more like asking you the LCM of the numbers.

Thanks for reverting back!
I get the gist of the question and agree that they want the denominator to be the same, basically the LCM.
But if we keep aside the LCM for a moment and if we take say for instance option a) which is 8, we can still make both the fractions to have denominator 8, the only difference would be numerators may or may not be whole numbers.
Hence my query that if the “have whole number numerators” part would not be mentioned in the question, would the answer to the question change?
