Question discrepancy noted on Tickbox quiz #3 (Ques 13))

Across the classes, we have noted how the even roots (including 2, of course) will result in only a positive answer, i.e., the solution of square root of 4 can only be +2 and not -2.

However, in question #13, you have mentioned that the solution for square root of 12 has 2 possible answers, just wanted to understand if there’s a gap in my understanding somewhere or an error. Apologies if this was explained in one of the videos and I missed it.

We did not.

a has just 1 possible value

B has 2 possible values (root 12 and negative of root 12)

which is why Quantity B is greater is the right answer (I had selected “The two quantities are equal” because I believed that the taking the square root of b square will only fetch 1 possible answer (which would make both quantities equal)

Hint: If you put -\sqrt{12} as b, does the equation still hold?
